The return of Al-Shitan … And advice to Bou Khaled

essay image

First of all, I would like to talk about the return of the good and virtuous man, my brother and my friend, Barak Al-Shaitan, to the Ministry. My testimony about Bou Ali is truncated. But I must talk about him. I dealt with him closely during his work as Director-General of the General Authority for Minors' Affairs, and I found him to be a firm, fair, insightful man and a first-class negotiator. As the saying goes, "On their faces are their marks." He took over the position of the Ministry of Finance in the most difficult stages. He was an impenetrable wall to all kinds of sloppiness and corruption. He left the ministry with unprecedented popular support. I, like many others, am happy to have this man back in the ministry. I say to His Excellency the Prime Minister: You have been successful in choosing this man, and you have done your best by assigning him to chair the Coordinating Committee between the government and the National Assembly. That committee, which I see as the golden key to the dilemma of cooperation with the National Assembly, if this key does not work, it means that our problem is deep and will not be solved in any way, and the only solution will be to crack the idea of cooperation between the government and the National Assembly. I and all the people of Kuwait hope that the National Assembly will be open to cooperation with that government, and let some people leave the unnecessary talk, and give the new ministers the opportunity to work, for some of them are new to parliamentary work as well as the government. They are highly specialized technicians and need some time to get acclimated and understand the mechanisms of work. Please do not confuse them and allow them to work. Returning to Bou Khaled, His Excellency the Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled: If Al Shitan held the key to cooperation, then you hold the key to real reform in the Ministry of Interior. Taking charge of its affairs is a sign of a new stage of strictness and enforcement of the law. All of Kuwait's people witness that you have done a successful job during the previous short period. If you allow me to give you advice from the heart, the head of corruption in this country are the "citizen forgers". We cannot have a country with so many forgeries. Forgers unfairly participate in the country's same as real citizens, and they may assume leadership positions and participate in decision-making. They may fit in with Kuwaiti families, who do not know their reality, and their votes may lead those who are not worthy to Parliament. You may find some of them representing the nation without knowing their origins. Why not? He holds Kuwaiti citizenship, which we all hold. In fact, they are like us, so there is no danger or evil more dangerous or worse than they. If you let them multiply and penetrate more into the sides of the state, believe me, within two decades we will not find a home for us and our children. As for the main reason for corruption, they are "residence dealers." All the loose workers, as well as those violating the residency laws, have behind them a company or a Kuwaiti citizen. It is not surprising that some Europeans enter Kuwait with commercial visit visas and work, and every three months they leave for any Gulf country and return to work, and so on. After they understand how the process takes place, they search for a residence, either through someone or for a fee, and he begins to work for his own business. Unfortunately, some violate the law and some circumvent it. Dear Bou khaled, this matter is not a secret and everyone knows it, and it is resolved by you and the Minister of Affairs. This matter needs study and organization, and as it is said, "zero harm." Finally, I will talk about the issues of nationality and national identity. It is clear that there is a strong tendency in this council that supports and fights for allowing naturalization, and they consider it one of their most important priorities before health, education, and anything else. I think this issue is very easy to solve now, and it can be completed by closing the Bidoon "unknown nationality residents" file and naturalizing those who are entitled to them according to the statements and recommendations of the Central Apparatus for Resolving the Situation of Illegal Residents and the children of Kuwaiti women to whom the law applies. After that, naturalization must be closed forever. Then it will be replaced by permanent residency with all the financial and human advantages that it carries. Whoever does not accept that solution, let him go to his country, and this is not a wrong or defective matter. But in the future, the solution will be more difficult with such a growing trend in the National Assembly and what may result from some of the disastrous actions. As I have said, the people of Kuwait are waiting for you to resolve these outstanding issues, and they are hoping for a lot from you.

stay safe.
